In good news for both the cost of living and solar power in San Diego, Community HousingWorks (CHW), a local affordable housingdeveloper, and HelioPower have announced the completion of the first Multifamily Affordable Solar Housing (MASH) Track 2 grant project in California: a solar installation at Las Serenas, a 108-unit affordable housing community.
This installation is expected to offset an average 20% of residents’ annual electricity bills. (Additional green improvements, funded through a grant from NeighborWorks America, are also expected to help in lowering those utility bills while reducing the development’s carbon footprint overall.)
