The Western Riverside Council of Governments (WRCOG) has launched the nation’s largest financing program to help residential and commercial property owners pay for the installation of solar panels and other energy improvements that will save energy.
Douglas McAllister, mayor of the City of Murrieta, credited the program and HelioPower with helping to create jobs through innovation and entrepreneurship at a recent WRCOG PACE solar financing event presented by HelioPower and Structured Finance.
“You have folks who are able to innovate, to create the programs and technology to do these wonderful things. And then you have the entrepreneurs. They’re the ones who go out and find the customers to sell them to,” McAllister said. “You put those two things together; you are going to create jobs every time.”
McAllister sites the book, The Coming Jobs War (Author Gallup chairman and CEO, Jim Clifton).
“It’s a book that I highly recommend everyone to read. One of the really exciting facts that is supported, is that basically when it comes to the future of the United States, it’s not going to be found in the federal government, it’s going to be found at ground zero of the future is in cities. Cities are where the jobs are going to be created. Cities are where the jobs are going to be birthed, if you will. And the purpose for my bringing that up here is in the city of Murrieta, we consider ourselves the future of southern California.
And when I read that book it fits right in with what we are talking about because we do see the opportunity to create jobs. So when you see a city that is business friendly, when you see a city that has opportunity. We have the dirt, we have the businesses, and we have the employees.
With the right leadership, what you want to identify in those cities are two groups of folks, the innovators and the entrepreneurs. I can’t think of a better example of a company that embodies everything Murrieta is and everything that it is going to take to be the ground zero for the future of this country, and that’s a company like HelioPower.”
