Energy audits are typically performed on buildings or facilities to evaluate the potential for energy reduction.  These efforts focus on devices, equipment and the overall building envelope itself.  The output of a typical energy audit includes recommendations to replace, upgrade or recommission equipment and systems.  Implementation of energy audit recommendations  frequently decrease the energy consumption of the facility but, due to TOU rates and demand charges, often do not reduce energy costs as expected.

Energy Cost Audits focus on process costs in the context of the users business.  This shift in focus to energy cost enables the evaluation team to analyze the interaction and timing of equipment, systems and people throughout the facility against energy loads and their applied tariff schedules.
