I want my whole house fan today!

Did you know?

Whole house fans from HelioPower are the most efficient way to cool your home at 10% or less of the energy cost of air conditioning. Whole house fans can cool your home by 30 degrees and the attic by 50 degrees, ventilating the inside of your entire home 15-20 times per hour, controlling mold and mildew and reducing airborne germs.

Whole house fans operate at the sound of a whisper, averaging 45dB, in contrast with a traditional house fan averaging 85dB. The patented systems HelioPower offers are suspended in the attic and ducted through your ceiling.

How does a Whole House Fan work?

This is how a whole house fan works

Whole house fans will work effectively when it’s cooler outside than the inside of your home. This normally happens in the late afternoon to early evening and through to the next morning of summertime. When the whole house fan is turned on, it pulls the cooler outdoor air into your home and out the attic vents replacing the hot air. This helps cool the home and attic by up to 30 degrees, allowing it to stay much cooler the following day.

When in use, we recommend cooling the most occupied areas. For example, the early evening is spent in the kitchen and family room area.

The cool breeze begins when a window or two is opened and the fan is turned on. The cooler air outside will immediately begin to create a breeze inside, making your home 10 degrees cooler, instantly. This breeze will be carried through your home to each whole house fan in use, beginning the cooling process.

At the same time, the cooler outdoor air is pulled through the house, into the attic and vented outside. Venting the hot air inside your attic also allows your home to stay cooler throughout the day. In the evening, we recommend opening more windows in other rooms of your home.

Then at bedtime, close all the windows in your home except in the bedrooms that are being occupied. This will provide each room with a cool breeze. If a whole house fan is installed in each bedroom as recommended, homeowners can enjoy the breeze and your privacy with your door closed.
